President Homes Launches Green-Certified Owner-Builder Program
Service is First of its Type for Individuals General Contracting Their Own Home
Minneapolis—President Homes today launched Wisconsin’s first Green Building program for Owner-Builders in cooperation with Green Built HomeÔ, an initiative of the Wisconsin Environmental Initiative in cooperation with the Madison Area Builders Association. The President Homes Green Building Program simplifies the process of building an environmentally sound home for individuals who are general contracting the construction of their own home. President Homes is offering the Green Building program as a free upgrade to all new Wisconsin customers this summer.

They have done a great job of simplifying the process and reducing the cost to make it cost-effective for people building their own home to meet our requirements. The fact that President Homes is offering to upgrade all customers to a Green home speaks to their leadership in this arena."
Green building offers a way to build homes that are healthier, more sustainable, more environmentally friendly and have a lower impact on resources. According to industry statistics, green building of new homes now accounts for nearly $2 billion in annual spending in the US and is expected to grow to at least $6.5 billion by 2010. Nationally, 8% of new homes are built by Owner-Builders, and such homes are often the #1 source of residential building permits in a county.
President Homes is a leader in this sector, having helped over 10,000 individuals general contract the construction of their new home across the country while saving an average of 20% compared to traditional construction.
